Finding and Obtaining the Dormant Relic in World Loot
Obtaining a Dormant Relic in Simply Swords requires looting treasure chests inside rare naturally generated structures, as the weapon cannot be crafted from basic ingots.
Structure Chest Locations
The Dormant Relic belongs to the unique weapon loot table in Simply Swords. It generates randomly inside dungeon and stronghold chests across all three vanilla dimensions:
Overworld Structures
- Monster Spawner Dungeons: Small underground cobblestone chambers containing zombie or skeleton cages frequently house one or two chests with relic chances.
- Mineshaft Storage Carts: Minecarts with chests found parked along abandoned track systems.
- Ancient Cities: High-value chests resting in deep dark structures beneath Y=0, particularly near the central palace frame.
- Desert Pyramids and Jungle Temples: Secret basement chambers containing hidden loot chests.
Nether Structures
- Nether Fortresses: Corridor chests resting on Nether brick bridges.
- Bastion Remnants: High-tier chests in Piglin housing units, hoglin stables, and central treasure hoard rooms.
The End
- End Cities: High-tier storage chests found inside sprawling purpur towers and floating End ships.
Because unique weapon spawns are shared among dozens of different blades—including
Brimstone Claymore,
The Watcher, and
Frostfall—finding a Dormant Relic often requires exploring several distinct structures.
What to Do Upon Finding a Dormant Relic
Once you secure a Dormant Relic, choose how to utilize it based on your current equipment tier:
Early and Mid Game: Wield in Battle
If your current loadout consists of iron or non-enchanted diamond gear, the Dormant Relic provides immediate combat power. It possesses strong baseline attack values and custom swing profiles. Enchant it with Sharpness, Unbreaking, and Looting to maximize its utility during resource gathering.
Late Game: Smelt for Crafting Components
If you already wield advanced runic or Netherite weaponry, place the Dormant Relic inside a furnace. Smelting the weapon returns one
Empowered Remnant.
That remnant can then be brought to a Smithing Table to forge:
- A
Runefused Gem using a
Runic Tablet and Crying Obsidian. - A Netherfused Gem using a
Runic Tablet and a Netherite Ingot.
Durability and Salvage Strategy
Do not hesitate to use a Dormant Relic in battle until its durability drops low. Even when reduced to a single point of durability, smelting the weapon inside a furnace still yields the exact same full
Empowered Remnant. This makes it an ideal sidearm to wield until worn, then recycle into valuable gem crafting materials.
