How to Tame a Cat in Simply Cats

Getting the right items

Cats are attracted with food, and the mod provides a dedicated container for it: the Treat Bag. Craft a Treat Bag and keep it in your inventory while you look for cats. You will also want an Adoption Certificate ready, since that is the item that converts a wild cat into a pet you own.

Taming steps

1. Craft a Treat Bag using the shapeless recipe available in the crafting grid.

2. Locate a wild cat in the world and approach slowly.

3. Use the Treat Bag on the cat to feed and befriend it. Repeat feeding until the cat stops fleeing and begins following you.

4. Once the cat is friendly, use an Adoption Certificate on it. This registers the cat as yours and lets you interact with it as a pet.

5. If you want to move the cat, craft a Pet Carrier and use it on your tamed cat to pick it up, then place it down wherever you want.

After taming

A tamed cat needs a place to sleep and scratch. Place a Tree Bed (any colour) so it has somewhere to rest, and a Scratching Post made from any wood type so it can sharpen its claws. A Cat Bowl filled with food keeps it fed, and a Litter Box keeps the area clean. Use the Cat Book to review your cat's status and needs.
