Preparing Two Cats

You need two tamed adult cats. Keep both fed by placing Cat Bowl blocks filled with food nearby, and give each cat its own Tree Bed and Litter Box so they stay healthy. A Cat Book helps you confirm each cat's status before breeding.

Breeding

1. Feed each cat Catnip by right-clicking while holding it.

2. When both cats show hearts, they breed and a kitten is produced.

3. Let the kitten grow near a Tree Bed and Cat Bowl so it stays fed.

Managing the Litter

Kittens inherit traits from their parents. If you want to control which cats breed, separate them using Pet Carrier items — a Pet Carrier (Empty) picks a cat up, and a Pet Carrier (Full) holds it until you place it down elsewhere. Use a Sterilization Potion on a cat to stop it from breeding when you want to limit the population. Keep Catnip stocked so you can repeat breeding sessions. Place Scratching Post blocks and Window Perch blocks around the area so growing kittens have things to do.
