Crafting the Common Backpack: Your First Storage Item

The Only Shaped Recipe

The Common Backpack is the single item in this mod produced by the crafting_shaped recipe type. It is the entry point for the entire backpack progression, so you need one before you can reach any higher tier. Gather the shaped-recipe ingredients, arrange them in the crafting grid exactly as the recipe requires, and collect your Common Backpack.

Why It Matters

The Common Backpack is not just a storage container — it is the ingredient that feeds the first simplybackpacks:backpack_upgrade recipe. Without it, you cannot craft an Uncommon Backpack, and without an Uncommon Backpack you cannot reach Rare, Epic, or Ultimate. Treat your first Common Backpack as a stepping stone, not a final product.

Using It

Right-click with the Common Backpack to open its inventory. Store items inside, then close the interface — the contents persist on the item. Because the backpack is an item rather than a placed block, you can carry it in your hotbar and open it anywhere.

Planning Ahead

Once your Common Backpack is crafted, immediately look toward the Uncommon Backpack upgrade. Keep the Common Backpack in your inventory rather than leaving it in a chest, since the upgrade recipe consumes the backpack itself. If you lose it, you must craft another Common Backpack from scratch before you can continue up the tier chain.
