Choosing Between Backpack Tiers: A Progression Guide
The Five Tiers
Simply Backpacks contains exactly five backpack items: Common Backpack, Uncommon Backpack, Rare Backpack, Epic Backpack, and Ultimate Backpack. They form a single linear progression. The Common Backpack is crafted with crafting_shaped; each of the other four is produced by a simplybackpacks:backpack_upgrade recipe from the tier below it.
When to Move Up
Stay on a tier only as long as it meets your storage needs. Because upgrades consume the previous backpack, there is no benefit to hoarding a lower tier once you can afford the next one. The decision points are simple:
- Craft a Common Backpack as soon as you have the shaped-recipe materials.
- Upgrade to Uncommon Backpack when you have the upgrade ingredients on hand.
- Continue to Rare Backpack, then Epic Backpack, then Ultimate Backpack in order.
Skipping is impossible — the upgrade recipes only accept the immediately preceding tier.
Practical Storage Habits
Keep your current backpack in your hotbar so you can open it without placing anything. When you gather materials for the next upgrade, do it while carrying the backpack you intend to upgrade, so you can craft the next tier immediately. If you play in a group, decide who is climbing the tier chain first; duplicating effort across multiple Common Backpacks wastes materials that could go toward a single Ultimate Backpack.
