How to Make a Sponge on a Stick and Upgrade It

Crafting the First Stick

Start with a Sponge. Combine it with a stick using the mod's crafting recipe to get a Sponge on a Stick. This is your basic handheld water-removal tool. Right-click water with it to soak up fluid in front of you.

Upgrade Chain

The Sponge on a Stick upgrades in a fixed order. Each upgrade consumes the previous stick item and the matching sponge block:

• Sponge on a Stick to Magmatic Sponge on a Stick
• Magmatic Sponge on a Stick to Energized Sponge on a Stick
• Energized Sponge on a Stick to Compressed Sponge on a Stick
• Compressed Sponge on a Stick to Compressed Magmatic Sponge on a Stick
• Compressed Magmatic Sponge on a Stick to Compressed Creative Sponge on a Stick

Do not skip tiers. The recipe for each step expects the exact previous item, so crafting out of order will not work.

Why Upgrade

Each tier increases the area or volume of fluid the stick can clear per use. Magmatic variants handle lava and other hot fluids. Compressed variants handle larger volumes. The Compressed Creative Sponge on a Stick is the final tier and clears the most.

Managing Materials

You need one Sponge block per stick tier, plus the stick itself. Store spare Sponge blocks and intermediate sticks in a chest near your build site so you can upgrade without returning to your main base.
