How to Craft a Sponge in Simple Sponge Mod

Getting the Base Sponge

The Sponge is the foundation block for every other item in the mod. You obtain it through the mod's crafting recipes, which are the entry point for the whole progression. Once you have a Sponge, you can place it as a block or hold it as an item to soak up water in a radius around you.

Turning Sponges Into Tools

Combine a Sponge with a stick in a crafting recipe to produce a Sponge on a Stick. The Sponge on a Stick is the handheld version that lets you target water directly rather than relying on a placed block. From there, the mod's shaped and shapeless recipes let you upgrade the Sponge on a Stick into stronger variants.

Progression Path

The upgrade chain runs from Sponge on a Stick to Magmatic Sponge on a Stick, then Energized Sponge on a Stick, then Compressed Sponge on a Stick, then Compressed Magmatic Sponge on a Stick, and finally Compressed Creative Sponge on a Stick. Each step uses the previous stick item plus the matching sponge block. Keep one of each intermediate item on hand so you do not have to re-craft earlier tiers.

Practical Use

Place a Sponge block near water to clear it, or swing a Sponge on a Stick at a water source. Higher tiers clear larger areas and handle tougher fluid situations. The Creative Sponge and Creative Sponge on a Stick sit at the top of the chain and are made from the compressed variants.
