Designing Skylights and Ceiling Glass Panels
Planning Overhead Glass
Skylight design benefits greatly from rustic framing. The dark borders create visible structure overhead, making glass panels feel intentional rather than plain. Plan a grid or pattern before placing blocks.
Installation Patterns
Arrange glass blocks in regular rows or geometric patterns on your ceiling. The dark-iron borders will align between adjacent blocks, forming a grid that looks like authentic skylight framing. Alternate between clear and stained glass for visual interest.
Lighting Effects
- Clear glass lets full daylight through, brightening interiors naturally
- Stained variants tint incoming light—useful for creating colored ambient lighting indoors
- The borders cast subtle shadows, adding depth to ceiling designs
Structural Support
Place solid blocks (beams, slabs, or stairs) around your glass panels to create the appearance of a skylight frame. Dark wood or stone works best visually. The resource pack's dark borders will complement these support blocks seamlessly, creating a finished, intentional look rather than floating glass.
