How to Fly a Plane and a Helicopter

Basic Flight Controls

Enter the aircraft after the engine is running. Use the movement keys to control throttle and pitch, and the look controls to steer. A Plane needs forward speed from its Propeller before it will climb, so build up throttle on a flat runway before pulling up. A Helicopter lifts straight up, so apply throttle and climb vertically without needing a runway.

Landing

Reduce throttle and descend gently. A Plane needs a long flat strip to touch down; a Helicopter can land almost anywhere. Fit Floaty Bedding if you want to land on water without sinking.

Upgrades That Change Flight

Install a Rocket Booster for a burst of extra thrust. Add a Seats Upgrade to carry passengers, a Shooter Upgrade to fire while flying, and Plane Armor to survive hits. A Folding Upgrade lets you pack the aircraft into an item so you can carry it in your inventory and redeploy it later.

Field Repairs

Carry a Quick Fix Kit and a Wrench. The Quick Fix Kit repairs damage mid-flight or after a crash. The Wrench removes installed parts such as the Engine, Propeller, or upgrades so you can move them to another airframe. A Supply Crate attached to the plane lets you haul cargo while flying, useful for the Cargo Plane.
