How to Use the Fermenter for Drinks

What the Fermenter Does

The Fermenter is the processing block for turning crops and fruit into drinks. It uses the fermenting recipe type, so its inputs are not the same as a crafting table recipe. Place the Fermenter where you have room to stand and access it, ideally near your crop plots so you are not hauling ingredients across the base.

Feeding It Fruit and Grain

Grapes are a core fermenting input and produce drinks including Beer, Cider, and Cauim. Keep a Grapevine Trunk, Grapevine Head, and Grapevine running so grapes keep coming. Barley is the other staple to stock, since grain-based fermentation pairs naturally with the fruit batches. Harvest both, then load the Fermenter and collect the finished drink.

Keeping a Supply Line

Because fermenting is a separate recipe type from crafting, plan your farm around it: one plot for Barley, one vine structure for grapes, and the Fermenter placed between them. Process fruit and grain as soon as they are harvested so nothing sits in chests. Store finished Beer, Cider, and Cauim together so you can grab a stack before heading out.
