How to Grow and Cook Vegetable Crops

Planting the Plots

Vegetable crops grow from seeds and starts: Broccoli Seeds, Cantaloupe Seeds, Cassava Seeds, Corn Seeds, Cotton Seeds, Cucumber Seeds, and Cumin Seeds. Plant each on farmland and let it mature. Some crops grow as blocks you harvest directly — Broccoli, Cassava, Chicory, Corn, Cotton, Cucumbers, Cumin, Eggplants, Ginger, Kenaf, Lettuce, and Oat. Cantaloupe and Honeydew grow on stems: Cantaloupe Stem, Honeydew Stem, and Squash Stem produce their fruit, and the attached versions (Attached Cantaloupe Stem, Attached Honeydew Stem, Attached Squash Stem) mark where fruit has set.

Harvesting

Break mature crops to collect the produce and any seeds for replanting. Cantaloupe and Honeydew are collected from their stems once the fruit forms. Replant seeds right away so the plot never sits empty.

Cooking the Harvest

Vegetables feed soups, salads, and baked dishes. Broccoli goes into Broccoli Cheese Soup. Cucumbers go into Cucumber Soup and Corn Salad. Carrots go into Carrot Soup. Corn and Cucumbers combine into Corn Salad. Cassava bakes into Cassava Cake. Chicory Root and Chicory make Chicory Gratin. Keep a chest of mixed vegetables near your kitchen so you can cook whichever recipe you have ingredients for.
