How to Craft the Diving Helmet Core

What the Core Is For

The Diving Helmet Core is the central ingredient in both the Diving Helmet and the Lava Diving Helmet. You cannot craft either helmet without one, so producing Cores in advance saves trips back to your crafting table. The Core itself is a shaped recipe and uses common materials, making it cheap to batch-craft.

Crafting Multiple Cores

Place the Core ingredients in the shaped pattern your recipe book shows and craft as many Diving Helmet Cores as you need. Because both helmet tiers consume a Core, craft at least two if you plan to build the water set and the lava set. A spare Core is also useful if you later want to craft the Diving Helmet (Headlamp) or Lava Diving Helmet (Headlamp) variants, since those are made by combining a finished helmet with a light source rather than by using a Core directly.

Using the Core in Helmet Recipes

Once you have a Core, surround it with the remaining helmet materials in the shaped Diving Helmet recipe. For the Lava Diving Helmet, use the Core in the corresponding lava-tier shaped recipe. Keep finished Cores in a chest near your crafting area so you can quickly produce replacement helmets after a dive goes wrong. Do not place a Core in an armor slot; it is only an ingredient, not wearable gear.
