Simple Corn Food Progression: From Kernels to a Full Meal

Stage 1: Kernels

Everything starts with Corn Kernels. Break a Corn block to get them, then plant kernels on farmland to grow more Corn blocks. Kernels are both your seed and your raw material, so never spend your entire stock on food.

Stage 2: Ears

Craft Corn Kernels into an Ear Of Corn. The ear is the hub item: it feeds into every cooked corn food and into both chowders. Convert kernels to ears only after you have reserved planting stock.

Stage 3: Cooked Corn

An Ear Of Corn becomes Roasted Corn through smelting, smoking, or campfire cooking. Separately, Corn Kernels cook into Popcorn by the same methods. These are your quick, low-effort foods — no crafting grid required beyond the initial ear.

Stage 4: Chowders

Combine an Ear Of Corn with other ingredients in a shapeless crafting recipe for Corn Chowder. Add chicken to that same set of ingredients for Chicken Corn Chowder. These are the most involved foods in the mod and the natural endpoint of the chain.

Keeping the Loop Running

Break Corn blocks, replant Corn Kernels, craft surplus kernels into Ear Of Corn, and cook or craft from there. Roasted Corn and Popcorn cover everyday hunger; chowders are for when you have chicken or extra ingredients to spare. As long as you replant before you cook, the farm never runs dry.
