How to Craft and Use a Waystone for Long-Distance Travel

Crafting a Waystone

The Waystone is a block in the Signpost Mod, made with a shaped crafting recipe at a crafting table. It is the long-range counterpart to the ordinary Sign Posts: where a Sign Post points you along a path, a Waystone marks a major destination.

Placing Waystones

1. Craft a Waystone.

2. Place it at a location you want to be able to find again — a base, a village, a mine entrance, or the end of a long road.

3. Build Sign Post routes leading to it so travellers can follow the markers in.

Combining Waystones with Sign Posts

Use Waystones as the anchors of your network and Sign Posts as the links between them. Place a Waystone at each major stop, then run a line of Oak, Stone, Iron, or Red Mushroom Sign Posts between two Waystones. Angle each post with the Sign angle wrench so it points toward the next one, and paint them with the Signpost paint brush to colour-code the route.

This gives you a readable system: Waystones mark where you are going, and the angled, painted Sign Posts tell you how to get there. When you add a new destination, craft a Waystone for it, then extend the post line from the nearest existing route.
