Converting Signs into Buttons

Why Convert Signs

Signs and Sign Buttons share the same wood types, so any spare sign can become a button. If you have a stack of Oak Signs but need Oak Sign Buttons for a redstone build, the shapeless recipe lets you convert them directly.

Step by Step

1. Gather the signs you want to convert. Each sign yields one button of the same wood.

2. Open a crafting grid.

3. Place the sign and a button ingredient into the grid. The recipe is shapeless, so the positions do not matter.

4. Take the resulting Sign Button.

Repeat for each sign. The wood type carries over: an Acacia Sign becomes an Acacia Sign Button, a Bamboo Sign becomes a Bamboo Sign Button, and so on through all twelve variants — Birch, Cherry, Crimson, Dark Oak, Jungle, Mangrove, Oak, Pale Oak, Spruce, and Warped.

Managing Your Stock

Because the conversion is one-to-one, decide how many signs you can spare before crafting. Keep a reserve of signs for actual signage and convert only the surplus into buttons. This keeps both your sign supply and your button supply available for builds.
