Optimize performance while using realistic shaders
Why performance matters with shaders
Realistic lighting effects like shadows and dynamic light calculations demand more GPU power. In space dimensions where the shader is disabled, you'll notice better performance automatically.
Performance tips in normal dimensions
1. Reduce shadow distance — Lower shadow render distance in shader settings to improve frame rate while keeping realistic lighting.
2. Disable expensive effects — Turn off bloom, volumetric lighting, or other intensive visual features if your system struggles.
3. Use lower render distance — Pair shaders with a moderate chunk render distance (12-16 chunks) for stable performance.
4. Close unnecessary programs — Free up system RAM and GPU memory before playing.
Performance in space dimensions
Since the shader automatically disables in space, you get a natural performance boost. Build your rockets and space stations without shader overhead.
Testing your setup
Fly between a normal dimension and a space dimension. You should notice smoother performance in space. If frame rates are still low in space, the issue is elsewhere (world size, mods, or hardware limits).
