Why the Scanner Stops Working

The Scanner consumes energy each time it scans. When the internal buffer empties, right-clicking produces no highlights. This is not a broken item — it simply needs to be recharged.

Recharging Steps

1. Remove the Scanner from your hand or hotbar.

2. Place it into a charging station or energy-accepting slot that supports the Scanner.

4. Retrieve the Scanner once charged.

5. Right-click to confirm it highlights targets again.

If your Scanner will not accept charge, check that the charging block has power. Generators, energy cells, or whatever produces power in your setup must be running and connected.

Managing Charge in the Field

Carry a portable power source if you plan long scanning sessions. Scanner Module: Range drains the buffer faster because each scan covers more area, so recharge more often when that module is installed. Swap to a cheaper detection module when you only need short-range checks. Keep a second charged Scanner in your inventory as a backup so a dead buffer never halts exploration.
