Building With Gloomy Tiles and Blast-Proof Blocks

Two Block Families

Gloomy Tiles are decorative. The family includes Gloomy Tiles, Gloomy Tile Slab, Gloomy Tile Stairs, Gloomy Tile Wall, and Chiseled Gloomy Tiles. Blast-Proof blocks are protective: Blast-Proof Plates, Blast-Proof Plating, Blast-Proof Slab, and Blast-Proof Stairs.

How to Get the Shapes

Gloomy Tiles, Gloomy Tile Slab, Gloomy Tile Stairs, Gloomy Tile Wall, and Chiseled Gloomy Tiles can be produced with stonecutting recipes. That means once you have the base Gloomy Tiles, you can cut them into slabs, stairs, walls, and chiseled variants at a stonecutter instead of crafting each shape by hand. Blast-Proof Slab and Blast-Proof Stairs are also available through stonecutting from Blast-Proof Plating.

Practical Build Order

1. Craft or obtain Gloomy Tiles first, then take them to a stonecutter for the slab, stair, wall, and chiseled versions.

2. Use Chiseled Gloomy Tiles as accent blocks in walls or floors made of Gloomy Tiles.

3. Line the outside of a build with Blast-Proof Plating, then cut Blast-Proof Slab and Blast-Proof Stairs for the edges and steps.

4. Use Blast-Proof Plates where you expect a Spore Bomb or Creeper Spores to detonate.

Keep decorative Gloomy Tiles on interior surfaces and reserve Blast-Proof blocks for anything exposed to blasts.
