Troubleshoot Items That Won't Salvage

When Salvaging Fails

Some items cannot be broken down in the Salvage Table. Understanding why helps you know what can and cannot be recycled.

Items the Table Won't Accept

The Salvage Table only works with items that have:

• A single, unambiguous crafting recipe
• No leftover byproducts or containers (like buckets or bowls)
• Standard shaped or shapeless recipes

Items with multiple possible recipes, smelted or cooked items, or anything with special crafting mechanics won't appear in the preview grid. Enchanted or damaged items may also fail to salvage since the table reads base recipes only.

What to Do Instead

If an item won't salvage, check whether it was crafted or obtained another way (smelted, found, etc.). Custom items from other mods will only work if they follow standard crafting recipe formats. If you're certain an item should salvage but doesn't, it may have multiple recipes registered, which the mod blocks to prevent exploits.
