Optimize Performance on Low-End Hardware
Identify Performance Bottlenecks
Load your world and monitor frame rate using F3 debug overlay. Note areas where FPS drops significantly—usually during fast travel, in dense forests, or near water.
Reduce GPU-Intensive Features
Open Shader Options and systematically lower:
- Shadow Distance to minimum or near-minimum values
- Cloud Quality to reduce cloud rendering overhead
- Ambient Occlusion or Global Illumination if available (disable if necessary)
- Water Reflections quality setting
Adjust Render Distance
In your Minecraft video settings, reduce Render Distance to 8–12 chunks. This is the single most impactful change for low-end systems and works synergistically with shader optimizations.
Test and Validate
Fly or travel through varied terrain—mountains, caves, open plains—and confirm frame rate remains stable above your target (typically 30+ FPS for playable survival). The Salicylic Lite design prioritizes performance, so even at reduced settings, visuals should remain clean and natural.
Fine-Tune Incrementally
If performance is still unstable, lower one additional setting at a time and re-test rather than making multiple changes at once.
