Improve Visibility in Dark Caves and Night

Access Lighting Controls

Open Shader Options and locate brightness and lighting adjustment sliders. Salicylic Lite balances day and night visibility by default, but you can fine-tune further.

Adjust Night Brightness

Look for settings such as:

  • Night Brightness or Ambient Light: Increase this value to brighten dark caves and nighttime areas without washing out colors. A moderate increase maintains atmosphere while keeping caves navigable.
  • Torch Light Brightness: Amplifies the glow from torches and other light sources, making them more effective in dark spaces.

Modify Contrast and Gamma

If available, adjust Contrast to enhance visibility of distant details in low-light conditions. Avoid pushing Gamma too high, as it can flatten the visual depth that Salicylic Lite provides.

Test in Various Conditions

Descend into a deep cave system at night and verify that block details remain visible without appearing oversaturated. Return to the surface during daytime to ensure your changes don't make bright areas look washed out.

Balance Aesthetics and Practicality

Remember that some dimness during night is intentional for atmosphere. Adjust conservatively—small increases often provide sufficient improvement without sacrificing the shader's natural look.
