Adjust Shadow Quality and Distance
Access Shader Settings
Open the Shader Options screen by pressing Right Shift (or your configured key) while in-game, then navigate to the Salicylic Lite settings panel.
Configure Shadow Parameters
Look for shadow-related sliders, typically labeled as:
- Shadow Distance: Controls how far shadows render from your character. Reduce this value if you're experiencing frame drops during exploration; increase it for more dramatic shadow coverage across distant terrain.
- Shadow Quality/Resolution: Lower values improve performance on modest hardware; higher values add crisp detail to block and entity shadows.
- Shadow Softness: Adjusts the blur applied to shadow edges. Increase for softer, more natural shadows; decrease for sharper definition.
Apply and Test
After adjusting each slider, observe the changes in real-time. Shadows on trees, buildings, and mobs should update immediately. Test in both bright daylight and darker areas to ensure visibility remains high. If frame rate drops noticeably, reduce Shadow Distance or Quality incrementally until performance stabilizes.
Save Your Preferences
Changes are typically saved automatically, but confirm by closing the settings menu and reloading your world to verify settings persist.
