Understanding the Star Rating System and Distillation Timing
What Stars Mean
The star rating (1-5 stars) determines your drink's potency and the special effects it grants. Higher star ratings unlock better status buffs, unique debuffs, and more entertaining drunken effects. A perfectly-timed distillation yields five stars—the best possible outcome.
Reading the Green Particle Signal
When distilling, watch your cauldron closely. Green particles indicate the drink has reached peak brewing quality. This is your window to remove the bottle. The moment you see consistent green particles, pull the bottle out immediately.
Timing Practice
Each ingredient type may have slightly different distillation speeds. Experiment with different crops to learn their timing patterns. Early removal gives lower stars but a safe result. Waiting too long past the green particles causes quality to decline. The sweet spot is removing the bottle right as the particles appear.
Maximizing Your Rating
Consistency improves with practice. Set up multiple cauldrons to experiment simultaneously, allowing you to refine your timing without wasting ingredients. Once you master the timing for each drink type, you'll reliably produce five-star brews ready for aging or immediate consumption.
