Set Up a Custom Roleplay Nickname

Creating Your Roleplay Identity

Custom nicknames let you separate your Minecraft username from your in-game character name. This nickname appears in chat, above your head, and in private messages, making immersion seamless across all communication.

How to Set Your Nickname

1. Open your character profile menu by holding a license item or right-clicking with one equipped

2. Look for the nickname or identity section in the menu

3. Enter your desired roleplay name in the text field

4. Confirm and save your changes

Your new nickname takes effect immediately—no server restart needed. Other players will see your roleplay name in chat and floating above your character, while staff can still identify you by your original username when needed for moderation.

Tips

  • Keep nicknames within server rules (check with admins for naming guidelines)
  • Your nickname persists across sessions
  • Use the same menu to update or change your nickname anytime
  • Proximity-based nametag hiding still applies—nearby players see your tag, distant ones don't
