How to Farm Flax for Rope, Seeds, and Soup

Find and Break Flax Bush

Flax Bush is the wild source. Break Flax Bush blocks to collect Flax Seeds and Fresh Flax. Take both home; the seeds start your farm and the Fresh Flax goes to the Drying Rack.

Plant Flax Crop

Till farmland and plant Flax Seeds to grow Flax Crop. Each harvest returns Fresh Flax and additional Flax Seeds, so the patch expands itself if you replant every time.

Process the Harvest

Fresh Flax has two uses. Dry it on a Drying Rack to get Dry Flax, then craft Dry Flax into Rope. Rope becomes Block of Rope or Rope Arrow. Separately, Fresh Flax is used to make Flaxseed Soup, so set some aside before drying the rest.

Scale the Farm

Plant a wide Flax Crop field and line up several Drying Racks next to it. Harvest, replant, load the racks, and craft. This single loop supplies Flax Seeds for replanting, Fresh Flax for Flaxseed Soup, Dry Flax for Rope, and Rope for Block of Rope and Rope Arrow.
