How to Use the Storage Scanner to Find Items

What the Storage Scanner does

The Storage Scanner is a block that lets you locate and access stored items across your base. Craft it using its shaped recipe, then place it where you want to manage your storage.

Scanning and searching

Right-click the Storage Scanner to open its interface. From here you can search for items that exist in the containers connected to the scanner. Type the name of the item you want into the search field and the scanner reports where that item is stored.

Connecting storage

For the Storage Scanner to see your items, your storage blocks must be part of the same network. Place Modular Storage blocks near the scanner and they become part of the system. The scanner reads the contents of the connected Modular Storage blocks, so you do not have to walk from chest to chest to check what you have.

Practical use

Build one Storage Scanner in your main storage room and surround it with Modular Storage blocks. When you need an item, open the scanner and search instead of opening each block. This keeps large storage areas manageable and saves time when you are crafting or building.
