Gather the Materials

Leather Wolf Armor is the entry point for protecting your wolf. You need leather and a crafting table. No smithing table is required for this tier.

Crafting Steps

1. Place a crafting table.

2. Open the crafting grid.

3. Arrange your leather in a shaped recipe pattern that mirrors standard armor shapes, scaled for a wolf's body.

4. Take the Leather Wolf Armor from the result slot.

Equipping the Armor

Once crafted, the Leather Wolf Armor goes directly onto your tamed wolf. Approach your wolf and use the armor on it. The wolf will wear the armor and gain its protection value.

Leather Wolf Armor is the cheapest of the six armor tiers. It uses only leather, which you get from cows, so it is the easiest to mass-produce if you lose wolves often. Because it is the lowest tier, expect it to break sooner than the metal tiers under sustained combat.

If you already have iron, gold, or diamonds, skip straight to those tiers using the same shaped crafting approach. Leather is best treated as a starter set for a new wolf you are still leveling or transporting.
