Adjust Pixelation Intensity for Your System
Finding the Right Pixel Size
RetroPixel Shaders lets you control how chunky or fine the pixelation effect appears. A higher pixel size creates a blockier, more retro look but runs faster. Lower values give smoother visuals but demand more from your GPU.
Steps to Adjust
1. Open the Shader Options menu (usually accessed via the Shaders screen in Video Settings)
2. Look for a setting labeled Pixel Size, Pixelation Scale, or similar
3. Increase the value for chunkier pixels and better performance on weak hardware
4. Decrease the value if your system handles it well and you want finer detail
5. Test in-game by looking at distant terrain and mobs—you should see the effect change immediately
6. Save your settings
Performance Tips
If you're on a potato computer, start with a higher pixel size (around 2–3 pixels) and lower it gradually as you test. Watch your FPS counter to find the sweet spot where visuals look good without stuttering. Pixelation is less demanding than fancy lighting effects, so you can usually afford to be generous with the effect while keeping performance smooth.
