Set Up RenderLib as a Foundation for EntityCulling

Install and Verify RenderLib

RenderLib must be installed before EntityCulling can function. Place the mod JAR in your mods folder, then launch the game. If the mod loads without errors in the log, you're ready to proceed.

Install EntityCulling

Once RenderLib is confirmed working, add the EntityCulling port mod to your mods folder. Launch the game again. EntityCulling will now have access to RenderLib's rendering hooks and can begin culling (hiding) entities that are outside your view.

Verify Both Mods Work Together

Check your debug screen (F3) while playing. You should notice:

  • No crashes related to rendering
  • Smoother performance when many mobs are present off-screen
  • The entity count may appear lower than expected, as culled entities are not rendered

If you see rendering errors or crashes, ensure both mods are for the same Minecraft version and that no conflicting rendering mods are installed. RenderLib handles the low-level work; EntityCulling uses it to optimize what gets drawn.
