This shader softens block shadows outdoors, eliminating harsh edges that make terrain look artificial. The effect is automatic—shadows cast by blocks and terrain gradually fade rather than having sharp boundaries.

Position Builds to Showcase Shadows

Build structures with varied heights and overhangs in open areas. The soft shadows will drape naturally across the ground, creating depth and visual interest. Cliffs, towers, and trees all benefit from the smooth shadow gradients.

Adjust Shadow Softness (If Available)

Some configurations include a Shadow Softness or Penumbra slider. Increase it for dreamier, more diffuse shadows; decrease it if you want slightly more definition while keeping the soft appearance.

Observe Time of Day

Shadows change throughout the day cycle. Visit your build at sunrise, noon, and sunset to see how the soft shadows interact with the warm bloom effects during golden hour. This combination creates particularly appealing outdoor lighting.
