How to Expand and Secure a Refined Storage Network

Link distant networks

When two networks are too far apart for Cable, place a Network Transmitter on one and a Network Receiver on the other. The pair bridges the gap so both sides act as one network. Use a Wireless Transmitter to give wireless access to a Portable Grid or a Wireless Grid.

Add processors

Advanced recipes need processors. Craft Basic Processor and Advanced Processor and use them in the recipes that call for them. The Construction Core is used in building the network's structural blocks.

Control access

Place a Security Manager on the network and cable it in. The Security Manager controls who can use the network and what they can do. Configure it before opening the network to other players.

Recolor to organize

Every network block has colored variants — Black, Blue, Brown, and more — for Cable, Controller, Grid, Crafting Grid, Pattern Grid, Importer, Exporter, Disk Interface, Autocrafter, and the rest. The recoloring recipe swaps a block's color without changing its function. Use color to mark which cable run feeds which machine.

Upgrade storage

Use the storage_container_upgrade recipe to raise a disk or block to the next tier. Move from 1k to 4k to 16k to 64k for items, and from 64B to 256B to 1024B to 4096B for fluids. Use a Creative Storage Block or Creative Fluid Storage Block only when you want unlimited capacity.
