Choosing Pipe and Extractor Attachment Tiers

The five tiers

Every pipe family and every Extractor Attachment comes in five tiers:

• Basic
• Improved
• Advanced
• Elite
• Ultimate

So you can craft Basic Item Pipe, Improved Item Pipe, Advanced Item Pipe, Elite Item Pipe, and Ultimate Item Pipe, and the same pattern applies to Fluid Pipes and Energy Pipes. Extractor Attachments follow the same naming: Basic Extractor Attachment through Ultimate Extractor Attachment.

Matching pipes to attachments

Extractor Attachments are only used with item and fluid pipes. Place an Extractor Attachment on the pipe face touching the inventory or tank you want to pull from.

Use these rules:

1. Pick the pipe tier based on how much throughput you need.

2. Pick the Extractor Attachment tier to match the pipe tier for balanced performance.

3. Upgrade both together when you need more speed.

Energy pipes do not use Extractor Attachments; they simply connect a source to a destination.

All of these blocks and attachments are made with shaped crafting recipes, so you can craft each tier directly once you have the required ingredients. Start with Basic tier for simple setups, then move up to Improved, Advanced, Elite, and Ultimate as your throughput needs grow.
