Adjust Water Clarity and Reflection Intensity

Access Shader Settings

Open the shader options menu while in-game by pressing the designated shader menu key (usually found in your controls settings). Navigate to the water or visual effects section.

Customize Water Appearance

Look for sliders controlling:

  • Water transparency — increase to see deeper into oceans and rivers
  • Reflection strength — adjust how prominently the sky and surroundings mirror on water surfaces
  • Wave height — control how pronounced the surface motion appears

Apply and Test

After adjusting each setting, observe a nearby water body to see changes in real-time. Reflections are most visible when looking at water from an angle rather than directly above. Test in different lighting conditions—sunrise, noon, and night—since the shader recalculates reflections based on environmental light.

Fine-Tune for Performance

If water effects cause frame rate drops, reduce reflection strength or wave complexity. Lower-end systems may benefit from disabling advanced reflection features entirely while keeping basic water motion active.
