Crafting Spikes

Spikes are a defensive block crafted at a crafting table. Gather the required materials and craft them in batches, since a single Spike covers only one block face. For a full trap or perimeter you will want several.

Placing Spikes for Defense

Place Spikes on the ground or on walls where mobs path. They damage anything that walks into them, making them useful around a base entrance, along a moat, or inside a mob farm. Combine Spikes with other mod blocks like Large Brick Walls to funnel enemies into the spike line.

Spikes work well alongside a Scarecrow, which you can place to draw attention away from your crops and structures. For a layered defense, put Spikes at ground level, Large Brick Walls behind them, and a Scarecrow nearby. Repair or replace Spikes after heavy use, and keep spare materials so you can extend the line as your base grows.
