Torch Progression: From Crystal to Lit Torch

The Full Chain

The mod's lighting progression runs in a straight line: Glowstone Crystal becomes an Unlit Torch, and an Unlit Torch plus a Matchbox becomes a Lit Torch. Glowstone Paste is the processed form of the Crystal used in the mod's recipes. Understanding this chain lets you plan every step before you leave your base.

Step by Step

First, obtain Glowstone Crystal. Second, craft Unlit Torches from your Crystals. Third, craft a Matchbox so you have a way to light them. Fourth, combine the Matchbox with an Unlit Torch in a crafting grid to produce a Lit Torch. Finally, place the Lit Torch where you need light.

Field Workflow

Do not light every torch at your base. Carry Unlit Torches and your Matchbox together, then convert them to Lit Torches only when you are ready to place one. This avoids carrying wasted Lit Torches and keeps your inventory light. When you return, restock Unlit Torches from your Glowstone Crystal supply and top up your Matchbox if needed. Repeat this loop for every mining trip or night-time build.
