How to Craft and Light an Unlit Torch

Crafting the Unlit Torch

Start by gathering the two ingredients that make up the Unlit Torch: a Glowstone Crystal and a stick. Combine them in a crafting grid to produce the Unlit Torch. The Unlit Torch is the base form of every light source in this mod, so you will want to craft several at once before heading out.

Lighting It

An Unlit Torch does not emit light on its own. To turn it into a Lit Torch, you need a Matchbox. Place the Matchbox and the Unlit Torch together in a crafting grid to strike the match and produce a Lit Torch. The Matchbox is reusable for this conversion, so you only need to craft one and keep it in your inventory.

Placing Your Torch

Once you have a Lit Torch, place it like any normal torch on a solid block. It will light the area around it. Because the Lit Torch is a separate item from the Unlit Torch, plan your trips: carry Unlit Torches and a Matchbox, then light them on site rather than carrying a stack of already-lit torches. This keeps your inventory efficient and lets you convert torches exactly where you need light.
