Dealing with the Plague and Garbage

Plague Prevention

Rats can contract the plague from Diseased Garbage. Place Purified Garbage near your rat cages to neutralize it. If a rat gets sick, it will spread Plague Essence to nearby rats. Craft a Plague Doctorate and equip it on a rat to reduce infection chance. You can also brew Plague Stew from Plague Essence and Curdling Station byproducts to cure sick rats. Keep a Curdling Station away from your main colony — it produces Crimson Liquid and Purifying Liquid as part of the purification process.

Garbage Management

Filth and Ball of Filth accumulate in rat cages. Use a Dye Sponge to clean up Filth blocks. Compressed Garbage can be broken down into Purified Garbage using a Curdling Station with Purifying Liquid. Pied Garbage and Diseased Garbage should be stored in a Trash Can or converted before they infect your rats. If you have excess Assorted Vegetables or Bundle of Sweet-Smelling Herbs, feed them to rats to boost their health and reduce plague symptoms. A Manhole Cover placed over a garbage pit will prevent rats from falling in and getting sick.
