How to Build a Travel Ration Kit
A good ration kit mixes long-life cans, dry staples, drinks, and sweets so you are covered for any trip length. Build it once at base, then refill it after every journey.
Core Staples
Start with Hardtack and a Package Of Hardtack for compact carrying. Add a Crate of Hardtack at base as your bulk reserve. For protein, include Dry Sausage to roast on the road, plus Salted Pork or Corned Beef for preserved meat.
Cans for the Road
Pick a few sealed Cans by type: Canned Beef, Canned Bread, Canned Carrots, Canned Potato, and Canned Fish are solid choices. Carry the matching Open Cans only for what you plan to eat, and leave the rest sealed in storage. Canned Cake and Canned Cookies work as travel treats.
Drinks and Sweets
Bring one Iron Cup plus Hot Chocolate Mix for hot drinks, and a Citrus Drink for variety. Add Sugar Candy, Glowberry Gum, or Sweetberry Gum for quick snacks, and Scho-Ka-Kola or Milk Scho-Ka-Kola if you have crafted them.
Refill Routine
After each trip, open no new cans until needed, restock Hardtack from the Package Of Hardtack, top up the Crate of Hardtack, and replace spent drinks and sweets. This keeps the kit ready without over-crafting.
