Troubleshoot Unnatural Lighting or Color Casting
Common Lighting Issues
Sometimes global illumination can create unexpected color shifts or overly bright areas. These usually stem from shader settings or block placement interacting in ways that don't match your build's intent.
Diagnosis and Fixes
1. Check if specific colored blocks are tinting nearby areas too strongly—move or replace them
2. Reduce GI intensity if interiors feel washed out or lose shadow detail
3. Verify that your render distance isn't too high, which can cause distant light to bleed incorrectly
4. Look for light sources bouncing through walls—place solid blocks to block unintended paths
5. Disable and re-enable the shader to reset calculations if lighting seems stuck
Prevention
When building, remember that light now travels realistically. Highly reflective blocks (white concrete, snow) bounce more light than dark ones. Plan lighting around this behavior rather than fighting it. If a room feels wrong, try adjusting the dominant block color or adding shadow-casting elements like overhangs and pillars.
