Building with Vertical Slabs, Posts, and Leaf Hedges

Vertical Slabs

Vertical slabs are available for many stone and wood types: Acacia Vertical Slab, Andesite Vertical Slab, Andesite Brick Vertical Slab, Ashen Vertical Slab, Azalea Vertical Slab, Bamboo Vertical Slab, Bamboo Mosaic Vertical Slab, and Birch Vertical Slab. Craft them at a crafting table or via stonecutting from the matching full block. Use them to make thin walls, window frames, and half-width columns that normal slabs cannot produce.

Posts and Leaf Hedges

Posts (Acacia Post, Ashen Post, Azalea Post, Bamboo Post, Birch Post) are thin vertical blocks for fences, lamp posts, and railings. Leaf Hedges (Acacia Leaf Hedge, Ashen Leaf Hedge, Azalea Leaf Hedge, Birch Leaf Hedge) are dense leaf blocks for hedgerows and topiary. Leaf Carpets (Acacia Leaf Carpet, Ashen Leaf Carpet, Azalea Leaf Carpet) sit flat on the ground like snow layers for path edging.

Stonecutting Workflow

Most of these blocks have stonecutting recipes. Put the base material (planks, logs, stone, Andesite Bricks, etc.) into a stonecutter and select the vertical slab, post, or related shape you want. This is faster than crafting each piece individually and gives exact counts.

Combining Shapes

Mix vertical slabs with full blocks to create recessed walls. Place Posts at corners where two fences meet. Line a path with Leaf Carpets, then raise a Leaf Hedge behind them for a layered garden border.
