How to Build with Asphalt in Promenade

Crafting Asphalt Blocks

Asphalt is a dark, smooth road block. Craft Asphalt, then convert it into Asphalt Slab, Asphalt Stairs, and Asphalt Wall using a crafting table or Stonecutter. The Stonecutter gives you precise control over which shape you get from each Asphalt block.

Laying Roads and Paths

Place Asphalt in long strips to make roads, driveways, or racetrack surfaces. Use Asphalt Slabs for gentle ramps and curb edges, Asphalt Stairs for elevation changes, and Asphalt Walls as barriers or retaining walls along the route. Because Asphalt is a full block, it also works as a flat foundation under builds.

Combining Asphalt with Other Promenade Blocks

Asphalt contrasts well with lighter blocks. Line roads with Maple Planks, Palm Leaves, or Dark Amaranth Planks. Use Blunite, Blunite Slab, Blunite Stairs, and Blunite Wall as a cool-toned border. Add Maple Fence or Palm Fence along the shoulder, and place Maple Sign or Palm Sign posts at intersections.

Themed Builds

Asphalt suits modern city builds, parking lots, and industrial areas. Pair it with Moai statues as roadside monuments, and use Coiled Vines on nearby walls for an overgrown look. For a park-and-ride, place a Maple Boat with Chest or Palm Boat with Chest at the end of the road so you can switch to water travel.
