How to Use the Screwdriver, Multimeter, and Pointer

Screwdriver

The Screwdriver is your configuration tool. Right-click a machine or logic block with it to rotate the block or change which face is the input/output. Most Project Red blocks only accept power or signals on specific faces, so the Screwdriver is required whenever a machine refuses to run despite correct wiring.

Multimeter

The Multimeter reads circuit state. Right-click a wire, coil, or machine to see whether power is present and how strong the signal is. Use it as your first diagnostic step:

1. Right-click the power source to confirm it is producing.

2. Right-click the wire near the source.

3. Right-click the wire near the machine.

4. Right-click the machine input face.

If the reading drops to zero between two points, the break is between them.

Pointer

The Pointer marks or indicates a specific block or direction, useful when routing complex wiring where you need a visual reference. Place it at junctions so you remember which line feeds which machine.

Workflow

Build with the Screwdriver in your offhand and the Multimeter in your main hand. Configure each block as you place it, then verify with the Multimeter before moving on. This prevents the common situation of finishing a large build and then hunting for one mis-rotated block.
