Finishing Off Undead Mobs

Undead enemies don't die immediately when defeated—they enter a five-second stasis and recover half their health unless you finish them off. To permanently kill undead mobs, you must use one of these methods: expose them to sunlight, burn them with fire or lava, hit them with the Smite enchantment, or apply instant health effects. You can also use flint and steel on knocked-down undead during their stasis period to finish them manually. This mechanic adds urgency to combat and prevents undead from recovering if left unattended.
