Set Up Your First Water Collection and Purification System
Gather Materials and Craft Containers
Start by collecting wood and clay. Craft a wooden bowl first—it's the easiest early-game water container. If you have clay nearby, craft a clay bowl for a more durable option. These bowls are your primary tools for collecting water.
Collect and Boil Water
Find any water source block (river, lake, or ocean) and right-click with your empty bowl to fill it. You'll collect water at its current purity level—ocean and river water will be dirty. Place your filled bowl on top of a campfire or inside a furnace to boil it clean.
Campfire method: Places the bowl directly on the fire. Water purity increases by one tier per boil cycle.
Furnace method: Smelt the bowl inside a furnace. This raises purity by two tiers, making it faster for large quantities.
Drink and Restore Thirst
Once boiled, drink the purified water by consuming it like food. This restores your hydration bar and grants the Quenchness effect, which slows thirst depletion temporarily. Repeat this process as you explore and work.
