Prepare for Desert and Hot Biome Exploration
Pack Extra Water and Containers
Before traveling to deserts or other hot biomes, craft multiple water bowls or upgrade to clay and terracotta bowls for durability. Fill them all with purified water before leaving your base. Hot biomes deplete hydration much faster than temperate zones, so you'll need reserves.
Plan Water Stops
Identify water sources along your route—oases, underground lakes, or distant rivers. Mark these locations mentally or with landmarks. If you find a water source in the hot biome, you can boil it using a portable campfire setup, though this takes time.
Bring Boiling Equipment
Carry a campfire or materials to build one if you plan extended desert exploration. This lets you purify water on-site rather than relying solely on pre-boiled supplies. Alternatively, return to your base to resupply rather than risk dehydration far from home.
Monitor Your Thirst Bar
Watch your hydration closely in hot biomes. Drink before you're critically low—waiting until your bar is nearly empty leaves no margin for error. The Quenchness effect from purified water helps, but planning ahead is essential for survival.
