Oil Extraction Basics

Locate an underground oil deposit containing deepslate oil blocks and oily sludge. Clear a safe area around the volatile sludge, as it ignites easily from fire and explosions.

Stack Oil Extraction Pipes vertically into the deposit, then place an Oil Well block on top. Add 5, 10, or 15 Oil Extraction Cables stacked above the well, capped with an Oil Pump block. Connect the pump to a constant redstone signal—it will produce crude oil buckets roughly every 20 seconds.

Smelt crude oil buckets in a furnace or blast furnace to create vehicle fuel. Different biomes yield bonus items and unique scrap while extracting deep veins, rewarding exploration of multiple deposits.
