Use Soft Colored Shadows to Enhance Landscape Depth
Understand Soft Shadow Behavior
PrimeCinematic Shaders casts soft, colored shadows across terrain and structures. These shadows aren't harsh black lines—they blend smoothly and take on colors from surrounding blocks and the sky, creating natural-looking depth.
Position Structures for Shadow Impact
Build or explore during times when shadows are longest:
- Early morning or late afternoon (sun near horizon)
- Tall structures cast longer, more visible shadows
- Shadows fall across open terrain for maximum visual effect
Observe Shadow Colors
Shadows aren't neutral gray. They pick up:
- Blue tones from the sky
- Orange and red tones during sunset
- Green tones reflected from grass and foliage
This colored shadow system is what gives the shader its cinematic quality.
Adjust Shadow Distance
If shadows disappear too quickly or don't extend far enough, access the shader settings and increase shadow render distance. This affects performance, so balance it with your chosen preset level.
