How to Build a Prefab House

Placing the Structure

Craft a House and place it on flat ground. If terrain is uneven, place Boundary Block first to mark the footprint, then clear the area. For a larger build, upgrade to Improved House, which expands the same layout. Advanced House is the next tier if you need more interior space.

Upgrading and Variants

Use an Upgrade on a placed House to convert it to Improved House, and again to reach Advanced House. For a different style, place Modern instead — it upgrades the same way through Improved Modern to Advanced Modern. If you want a cabin feel, Ski Lodge and Saloon are standalone placements rather than upgrades.

Filling the Interior

Furnish with Wooden Crate, Compressed Chest, and Paper Lantern or Coil of Lanterns for light. Install a Light Switch on a wall to toggle lamps. For storage overflow, Compressed Chest holds more than a standard chest. Add Quartz-Crete walls and Quartz-Crete Slab floors if you want a clean interior finish.

Multiplayer and Villagers

Place Villager Houses near your base to give villagers somewhere to path to. Town Hall works as a central meeting point. Watch Tower and Defense Bunker add perimeter structures if you expect mobs.
