Set Up Server Rules and Difficulty Settings

Access Server Configuration Files

PowerNukkitX stores server settings in plain-text configuration files, typically named server.properties or similar. These files control game rules, difficulty, PvP settings, and world behavior. Open the file with any text editor.

Configure Game Rules

Set core options like:

  • Difficulty level (Peaceful, Easy, Normal, Hard)
  • PvP enabled or disabled
  • Fire spread on or off
  • Mob spawning rules
  • Command block availability
  • Keep inventory on death (true/false)

Each setting is a simple key-value pair. Change the value and save the file.

Apply Changes

Restart your server for new settings to take effect. Some rules apply immediately to new chunks; others affect existing worlds depending on the setting.

Verify In-Game

Join the server and test your rules. Try PvP if enabled, check mob spawn rates, and confirm difficulty affects damage and hunger. Use /gamerule commands in-game to verify current settings match your configuration file.
