Crafting and Using the Mortar and Pestle

The Mortar and Pestle are the grinding pair in the Potions Master Mod. The Mortar is a block you place in the world; the Pestle is the tool you use on it. Almost every powder-based reagent passes through this setup, so build it early.

Setting Up the Mortar

Craft the Mortar and place it on the ground where you do your potion work. Keep it near your Cauldron so grinding and brewing happen in one spot. The Mortar stays in the world as a block, so pick a permanent location rather than carrying it around.

Using the Pestle

Hold the Pestle and use it on the placed Mortar to grind materials. Charcoal goes in and Charcoal Powder comes out; the same grinding step is how you break other solid reagents down into the powder forms the mod uses. Each grind consumes input and produces output, so top the Mortar up with fresh material as you go.

Workflow Tips

Grind in bulk. Fill the Mortar, work through your whole stack of charcoal, and bank the Charcoal Powder before moving to the next reagent. Keep the Pestle in a fixed slot in your hotbar so you never have to search for it mid-session. When you are done, move finished powders into labeled chests — Charcoal Powder, Ender Powder, and the rest — so later recipes do not stall while you dig through a mixed inventory.
